Freddie Gavita: ‘Freddie plays Freddie’
US trumpeter Freddie Hubbard was a star of the Blue Note record lable in the 1950’s, 60’s & 70’s, collaborating with Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey and Herbie Hancock amongst many others. UK trumpet virtuoso Freddie Gavita recreates those sounds, but in his own style. Alongside Freddie are Mark Edwards (keys), Oz Dechaine (bass) and Mez Clough (drums).

Alan Barnes and David Newton
Two of the UK’s best known and most loved jazz musicians. They first met at Leeds College of Music in the 70’s, and since then have played together in a variety of bands. Over the years they have both worked with just about everyone at the top of the UK jazz scene, and in every club and festival across the country and overseas. Oh, and they’re both multi-award winners too…

Roy Hilton Quintet: ‘Giants of Hard Bop’
The band will be playing the music of the great musicians from the 50’s & 60’s including Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Art Blakey, Cannonball Adderley, Hank Mobley and Thelonious Monk.
Playing in the band tonight are Roy (keyboard), Steve Waterman (trumpet), Andy Panayi (saxes & flute), Simon Thorpe (bass) and Bobby Worth (drums).

The Andy Panayi Big Band.
After their sell-out performance last year, they are back; this time with some classic music from the big band repertoire of Glenn Miller, Stan Kenton, Ted Heath, Count basie & Terry Gibbs plus other great writers from the UK and the USA. Adam Glasser Quintet – Adam (harmonica) started his career in jazz as a pianist but through the 1990s he began an increasing specialisation in the chromatic harmonica, which led to him filling in for Stevie Wonder twice. Adam’s South African roots and township rhythms are never far from his playing. His band at the Fishermen’s is Ant Law (guitar), Nigel Thomas (bass) and Paul Cavaciuti (drums) + Andy Panayi (sax/flute).
